2026 State Housing Tax Credit Program
Applications to contribute to the State Housing Tax Credit Contribution Fund open on February 17, 2026!
The SHTC is a way to help finance affordable housing right here in
Rice County! Eligible Minnesota taxpayers can contribute between $1,000 and $2 million to the Contribution Fund (and to a project in Northfield) and receive a state tax credit certificate (TCC) that equals 85% of their total contributions.
This is a unique way to direct your tax dollars to a project you care about!
On Tuesday, February 17 you can go to the SHTC website to make your contribution.
Here's the information you need to direct that contribution to Rice County Habitat for Humanity:
- After filling out your personal information and contribution amount, select "Specific Qualified Project" on the last step.
2. You can find "Heading Home Townhomes" by searching Northfield (City), Rice County Habitat for Humanity (Builder) or Homeownership "Type). In the search bar you can also type "Heading Home Townhomes"
- Type of project: Homeownership
- Developer/Owner/Administrator Name: Rice County Habitat for Humanity
- Contact telephone number: 507-323-5167
- Contact email: habitatricecounty@gmail.com
TIMING IS CRITICAL.
We believe these tax credits will go quickly in 2026!
In 2026 Rice County Habitat for Humanity has one project for you to contribute to - and that's our Heading Home Townhomes. In the spring of 2026, we will be building two duplexes (to serve four families) on the corners of Sumner and College Streets in Northfield.
